About Gas Price Today
A fast, static-first web utility dedicated to answering one question exceptionally well: "What is the average gas price in the U.S. or in my state right now?"
Why We Built This
If you search for current gas prices today, you are typically greeted with heavy, ad-laden web pages, intrusive cookie banners, video popups, and slow Mapbox or Google Maps canvases that hog your CPU.
Most motorists, road-trippers, delivery drivers, and business planners don’t need an ad-filled station locator when they simply want to know:
- What is the current average gas price in the U.S.?
- What is the gas price in my state?
- Which states have the cheapest and most expensive fuel?
- How has the price moved over the past week, month, and year?
Gas Price Today was designed from the ground up to present this vital economic information in under two seconds.
Engineering & Performance Architecture
Gas Price Today is built using modern edge-ready web technologies:
Zero client-side runtime overhead for reading. Pre-rendered HTML loads instantly on 3G mobile networks.
No bloated tile map SDKs. An accessible, clean SVG map rendered server-side that is fully keyboard and screen-reader accessible.
Backend Cloudflare Workers query federal APIs on a periodic cron schedule. Users never wait on external API latency.
Pages are distributed across hundreds of global Cloudflare edge data centers for sub-50ms Time to First Byte (TTFB).
